Mouse controls

This section lists the mouse controls specific to Trace Modeler. Standard UI elements like menu items, buttons, lists, etc. should work the same as in any other program on your system.

The mouse is generally the easiest way to interact with Trace Modeler. So be sure to glance over the controls below, you might find a shortcut you don't know about yet..

Terminology

In this manual, the following terminology is used when discussing how to get things done by using the mouse :

Explanation
LEFT-CLICK
Click with the left mouse button
RIGHT-CLICK
Click with the right mouse button
DOUBLE LEFT-CLICK
Click twice in rapid succession with the left mouse button
LEFT-DRAG
Drag whilst pressing the left mouse button (i.e. push down on the left mouse button, move the mouse whilst you keep holding down the left button and finally release the left mouse button)
RIGHT-DRAG
Drag whilst pressing the right mouse button (i.e. push down on the right mouse button, move the mouse whilst you keep holding down the right button and finally release the right mouse button)
WHEEL
Turn the mouse wheel
SHIFT-WHEEL
Turn the mouse wheel whilst holding down the SHIFT key
CTRL-WHEEL
Turn the mouse wheel whilst holding down the CTRL key

General mouse controls

The following can be used regardless of the current edit mode :

Mouse controls specific to text edit mode

These controls can only be used when text edit mode is active

Mouse controls specific to diagram edit mode

The controls below can only be used when diagram edit mode is active.

Note that it is possible to move an element and scroll at the same time (it may require some getting used to, but it's very useful combo once you get used to it!).
